Just a drop
Last week brought a surprise visit from Kuwaii's Kristy B., looking très belle in her very own Dune tank with a small delivery of said tank for Milly.
She also left with us a package containing the end result of her collaboration with local jeweller, Seb Brown. These really are the perfect complement to the current Kuwaii collection - sharing the same sort of cool, crisp, Nordic-ness, as well as a free, organic element.
The rings, earrings and bangles are all hand made from resin - each one is unique and each one is a bit of a steal we think... Our selection is very limited so please email leah@millysleeping.com to have something set aside to try on (and while you're at it, send a musical suggestion, too, to go in the draw for our birthday prizes!)

MMW and birthday giveaway
Yesterday, Janette and I pulled the garments from their plastic sheaths for the first very time, and swung open our front door to curious locals. Today... we are seven years old.
Well, just about. Milly Sleeping will officially note its hard-to-believe seventh anniversary in late November but we are getting the celebrations going a bit early. For starters, we are participating in the LookStopShop program for Melbourne Music Week, and spent this morning having a bit too much fun creating a pretty shrine - to the gods of music and fashion, I guess, and to the gods of retail and local design and the gods of colour.
The centre-piece is a rather wonderful print featuring brilliant local musician, Teeth & Tongue, styled by Tin & Ed, and curated by Moth Design. The image didn't necessarily need accessory but we've dressed it up anyway, with garden roses and little lights! Beneath it, all kinds of offerings are to be found - but these aren't for the gods, these are for you. There are edible sweet things and other treats in the form of 'lucky dip' discount cards. Visit between now and the end of November, choose a card from the shrine, and you are guaranteed a discount - most are smallish but some are biggish...
We have also put together a lovely prize pack for one Milly Sleeping follower, which includes:
- a handful of albums by various Melbourne bands
- a Michigirl notebook and postcard set
- two prints by Gracia Haby & Louise Jennison, from the set created for our Nice Work project, titled, 'Music to ... by'
- OK OK ankle socks

Small wonders
This week's biggest hits have been some of our littlest bits - new OK OK light cotton tights, and wee ankle socks. Emina D. has designed these babies in an array of colours and textures - ribbed cotton, a subtle animal print, and the very popular lurex - some of which have already sold out (although our second delivery will soon be on its way).
Also attracting a lot of admirers are new garments by Livia Arena. The success of Livia's S/S print - both its beauty and its illusory quality - has been confirmed this afternoon by our little camera, which eventually captured the silk tee and silk dress from many lovely angles ... but only once its focusing difficulties were surmounted. The make-believe rising and falling of the fabric proved quite a puzzle for Canon blue. But it's flat and smooth and easy as can be, we said ...

This post has been hovering in the wings for a little while, pending the arrival of some lovely Mücke pieces. Today, the new shirtdresses, knotted necklaces and a first batch of 'pointy' sleeveless shirts are here, and with them comes the awaited opportunity - to present some beautiful pictures taken by Melbourne-based photographer, Olga Bennett.

pictures 1 & 15 were taken of Ellie by Olga for Peppermint magazine;
pictures 6 & 12 were taken by Olga for Ellie, for a lookbook (we have some postcards featuring these images currently on our doorstep, for the taking);
and the rest of the pictures were not taken by Olga but in-house at Milly Sleeping ... numbers 2 - 5 depicting two of the ever-popular shirtdresses, and numbers 7 - 11, 13 & 14 showing various one-off pointy shirts worn in various ways with various Mücke tee-laces ... except for image 18, which depicts the mannequin wearing its favourite pointy shirt, with all of the new loopy tee-laces, because the occasion called for it, I suppose.
