In just a couple of days time, the State of Design Festival will launch in Melbourne.
Among the very excellent program of happenings, Tracy Quertier of Passion Victims is presenting Rubellite, a rare dining event and designer showcase. To be held at the new Rue de Fleurus on Gertrude Street (which opens in conjunction with the festival) on Wednesday July 27th, Rubellite invites guests to enjoys canapes and a three-course meal, with live music and entertainment, amid a display of objects, jewellery and artwork.
This is a unique ticketed event - the beautiful venue is not terrifically large, and there are not that many chairs, so book soon to secure one... All proceeds raised by the project will be donated to Feed Melbourne. Milly Sleeping is very pleased to be putting together the fashion component of the night's delights, and we hope to see a few familiar faces among the lucky attendees...
For those who can't make it to the dinner, the exhibition component of Rubellite will run on throughout S. O. D., with a free, public launch to be held at the venue on Thursday July 28th.
Every few weeks it seems, we receive a delightful email from the 'kitchen' of the ffiXXed studio, with a quick note about the progress of the production of a collection, or an anecdote from wherever their latest installation is taking place, or a photograph of Fiona with her feet in a trough, or something like that.
This week's update tells us that our selections from ffiXXed's fifth collection, 'Living Structures', will soon be on its way to Milly Sleeping... and feeds our anticipation with a video of the range, from the runway at Busan Fashion Week in Korea, where ffiXXed were invited to show for the first time, this May.
While waiting for its arrival, enjoy this great interview with studio snaps from To Love and Squalor ... (There are many other interviews at the ffiXXed Facebook page, though not all in English. Visit quickly and have the honour of becoming the 1,000th person to Like ffiXXed Facebook style).
And, of course, visit Milly Sleeping, where garments and accessories from 'Surviving Sustainability' are now available at discounted prices. There's just one remaining beautiful, large cotton scarf, featuring an original print by Ester Partegas. Someone really ought to whisk it away for their wall, before we decide to keep it for ours.
