Looking back (Part One)

These pictures were taken during LMFF 11, mostly while awaiting the appearance of the models. A few are from one of the L'Oréal Paris Runway Shows, featuring Woolmark Designer Award finalists including Lui Hon.

The rest are from the Off-Site Runway show at Penthouse Mouse (where it was snowing), featuring Alexi FreemanJolet, Kuwaii and Livia Arena among others. There was a very beautiful video preceding the Trimäpee show, of dancers plunging into water.

Going to town

Love this behind-the-scenes image, particularly the leaning cityscape at right.

The likelihood is that you already look at it every week, like me.

If you don't, today is a very good day, which you may well look back on as - The Day I First Visited the Primoeza Blog. Elizabeth Yong's blog is simply one of my favourites and a constant source of inspiration; she writes a little about her own work and much about the work of a diverse array of interesting others. She also takes very beautiful pictures, finds covetable publications and music, leads one to new stores and new blogs, and is a great supporter of Milly. Thanks Elizabeth!

The Primoeza studio was recently photographed for a lovely volume called Environments (with photography by Olga Bennett and interviews/words by Sarah Caldwell, which is currently propped up in our window... along side a gorgeous new Primoeza Pocket Sweater. We have just received a very small selection of these rather precious pieces in the dark greyish blue (pictured above), and brick red.

Top tops

Some of our favourites (today)...

The ingenious ffiXXed studio created this lovely unassuming cardigan, and the whimsical shawl-like, trench-like layering piece. It's made from soft but sturdy cottons, with draping panels at the front and an unexpected cropped back; the full sleeves and collar keep the piece perfectly balanced (and in place).

Merino magic by Strange & Strange...

Livia Arena's adorable tails top with gold buttons has sleeves twice the length of ordinary sleeves (meaning twice the fun, no doubt). The fabric is so fine that, when worn, the sleeves create volume that's more scrunchy than bunchy.

Alexi Freeman's seasonal print is 'Ziggy' - a simple and striking diagonal stripe. Throughout the collection, the points of convergence vary to great effect, inferring non-existent seam lines and creating flattering shapes. Here it's handprinted onto fine ivory merino wool.

Pictured: Arnsdorf wool Man trousers (RRP $385) and Arnsdorf Indigo slim jean (RRP $245) worn with:
ffiXXed wool cardigan (RRP $264);
ffiXXed trench scarf w sleeves (RRP $360);
Strange & Strange striped merino knit (RRP $134);
Strange & Strange silver merino batwing cardigan (RRP $260);
Livia Arena tails top - fr. & bk. -(RRP $169);
Alexi Freeman Ziggy hanprinted merino batwing sweater - fr. & bk. (RRP $260)

Going places

The mannequins are looking particularly fine as a pair, are they not?

Their plans for the weekend include going to Markit, to catch up with Michi, and the Limedrop crew, and going to the party at the wonderful NGV.

*

They were also planning to head to a new production of Anna Karenina, which they read about in the paper but it appears that many others may have read about it, too... Tickets are selling very quickly, and they will now have to go during the week some time.

Mannequin one wears ffiXXed wool silk Tshirt scarf dress (RRP $480) with her own MBP belt; mannequin two wears Arnsdorf wool 'man' trouser (RRP $385), High Tea Secret Messenger cape top (RRP $176) and Kuwaii cape sleeve jacket (RRP $545)
